Every week, I will preview the best games of the college football week and give some predictions for some of the top games. I will keep track of the predictions below, and update my record each week in the College Football Preview Blog.
Tuesday Review
(1) FIU defeated New Mexico State 34-13 in arguably Keyone Jenkins’ best game of his blossoming college career. Interested to see where he plays college football in 2025 and 2026.
(2) Louisiana upset Texas State 23-17 in a battle of two of the top Sun Belt teams. If Louisiana wins out, they might have a shot at the CFP for the Non-P4 spot. Tough loss for Texas State who had aspirations of winning the Sun Belt in August.
(3) Sam Houston beat LA Tech 9-3 in a tough watch. Sam Houston has a fun offense when Hunter Watson is playing QB. Hopefully he comes back before their next game.
Wednesday Review
(1) Jacksonville State upset Liberty 31-21 in what some are calling the trappiest line of all time. Liberty was able to recover earlier in the season in the 4th Quarter of games but penalties and turnovers killed them against Jacksonville State.
(2) Western Kentucky beat Kennesaw State 31-14. WKU is my favorite to win the C-USA title in December. Let’s see what happens.
Thursday Review
(1) Tulane defeated Charlotte 34-3. I think Deshawn Purdie is the real deal for Charlotte. He’s another guy I think will transfer up in 2025 or 2026. Tulane has a great running attack led by Makhi Hughes, and solid QB play from Darian Mensah. I think they will win the American Conference Championship.
Friday Preview
(1) Georgia State v. UConn – UConn should roll. Things are starting to turn around in Storrs on the gridiron.
(2) South Florida v. FAU – USF had bigger aspirations but comes into this game with 4 losses. Hopefully Byrum Brown is back and healthy soon for USF.
(3) San Diego State v. Boise State – Boise will roll against a SDSU who is 2-0 in the MW. SDSU is getting better but Jeanty and the Broncos should score with relative ease tonight.
Saturday Preview
Penn State v. Ohio State (-3) – It sucks that this game is at 12 PM and not a night game under the lights. Place is gonna be rocking but questions about how healthy Drew Allar will be/will Pribula play more snaps than normal. Ohio State will win by a touchdown in a hard-fought game where Will Howard gets revenge against his hometown school that didn’t recruit him.
Minnesota (-3) v. Illinois – This is one of the biggest games for PJ Fleck in the last few years. Minnesota has started to hum and is going up against Illinois, a team PJ Fleck has failed to beat as coach of the Gophers, and against Brett Bielema whose 10-0 vs. Fleck H2H. With that being said, Minnesota has looked better than Illinois in previous weeks, and are playing clean football. Minnesota has more explosive playmakers, and will win by at least a FG this weekend.
Virginia Tech v. Syracuse (+4) – I have to think Kyle McCord will respond and play better, as last week was just terrible. Syracuse got embarrassed on the offensive side of the football against Pitt, and goes up against a VT team playing much better than they were earlier in the season, as they have won three straight against ACC foes. I think VT will win a very close game that is decided by a FG.
Indiana v. Michigan State (+8) – Indiana will win, but I think they will struggle against the Spartans for much of the game. Indiana surely cannot keep killing teams in the Big Ten, can they?
TCU (+3) v. Baylor – TCU is another team that I think has turned the corner after looking shaky earlier in the season. They won at Utah two weeks ago and came back against Texas Tech last Saturday in a thriller decided by one point. Hoover, Cook, Williams, Bech, and the rest of the TCU offense have started to hum, so I believe they go into Baylor and upset the Bears.
Let us know what other Saturday Games you are looking forward to in the comments. The slate isn’t great looking this weekend, but that usually means we see alot of chaos.
